We took some time out of Ash and Lorraine’s busy schedule to speak to them about the creative minds behind their London based brand PYRUS. How PYRUS was born, favourites from the Autumn Winter 2016 collection and what to look forward to in the future.
Tell us about a day in the life of Ash and Lorraine…
With two children, two miniature dachshunds and running a business we would say that It’s fairly hectic. We start our day around 6.30, do the school runs, then it’s off to work, meetings, meetings, meetings, back to pick up the kids, make dinner, bath time, sleep time and then back to work till about 12ish.
When, why and how was Pyrus born?
Lorraine and I met in college and always wanted to launch a brand. We started working together in 2003 when we launched our first business offering end to end design and production for large high street chains. We finally saved up enough to launch Pyrus in 2005.
What is the story behind the name…Pyrus?
All our projects have botanical names, perhaps because we are always inspired by flowers and the romantic idea of botanicals in prints. Pyrus is the Latin name for Pear and was one of our favourite flowers when we launched the brand. We still use a pear fragrance in the showroom.. it’s our little subtle nod to the brand’s name.
Who is the Pyrus girl?
Strong, independent women who need their wardrobe to fit into their hectic daily lives. We try to design for everyone from lawyers, to creative’s and mothers who do the school run.
What is your hero piece from the AW Collection?
Definitely the Sophia Sequin Batwing top. It’s the perfect piece that can be dressed up or down for day to evening understated glamour
Can you reveal any secrets for Spring Summer 2017 at Pyrus?
